25. As part of demonstrating your willingness to partner with Habitat, are you willing to contribute 500 hours (250 may be completed by friends and family) of sweat equity doing construction and volunteer work as assigned? *

IMPORTANT – WILLINGNESS TO PARTNER – PLEASE READ: An important part of being selected for our Habitat Homeownership program is being willing to partner with us. This means that once you are selected, you will be asked to complete 500 hours of volunteer work (Sweat Equity) with us in building the home and contributing your time and effort to other volunteer opportunities as they arise. (Keep in mind that up to 250 of those hours can be completed by friends and family.) Also, you will be required to take a first-time homebuyer class, and you must be willing to live where we are building. We also require that you provide an earnest money payment of $100 at the time of acceptance into our program which will go toward your total down payment; plus, you will be asked to set aside money in your savings account each month to go toward closing costs at time of closing. Your anticipated share of closing costs can be anywhere from $5,500 to $10,000 at time of closing.
