Meet our newest Habitat families…
Daniel and Seng Ra Htoo
Daniel & Seng Ra Htoo came to the United States in 2009 from Burma and have a 5 month old daughter Grace Moon San Htoo. They currently live in one bedroom apartment which is small and pricey with rent increasing every 6 months. After they had their daughter, Grace, Daniel and Seng Ra wanted to find a house for their family. They found out about Habitat through some neighbor friends and applied for a house. Daniel and his family were approved for a Habitat house out in Tierra Vida and are excited to move into their new home in the near future.
Bay Lay and Ku Gay
Bay Lay, his wife Ku Gay and Bay Lay’s mother along with his infant son fled Burma over 10 years ago. They managed to get to a refugee camp in Thailand where his 2 young daughters were born, and remained there for almost eight years before World Relief helped with their passage to Kennewick . In the refugee camp Bay Lay helped build the Bamboo huts in which they lived and is now happy to aid in the building of his new house in the Tri-Cities.
Alfredo & Maricela Rico
Alfredo & Maricela Rico are the proud parents of 4 children, Sergio 18, Gerardo 15, Anahi 10 and 6 month old Edgar. The family is currently living in a small 2 bedroom house where daughter Anahi has to sleep on the floor in the family room. The house is just yards away from the railway tracks where the family has to listen to the constant noise of passing trains and moving cargo containers throughout the night. The house has no insulation making it extremely expensive to keep warm in the winter months and has no air conditioning making it very uncomfortable in the Summer. Alfredo & Maricela are very excited about being approved for a Habitat house and are looking forward to having family meals with all the family sitting around one table.
