A Brush with Kindness

Corporate Sponsorship Opportunities

Habitat can help with painting, landscaping, weather stripping and minor repair services for homeowners in need.

  • Fresh coat of paint on the home
  • Window and door repair or replacement
  • Yard or landscaping need some sprucing up
  • Roof or other exterior work  (no plumbing or electrical)
  • Neighborhood safety items such as motion detector exterior lighting
  • Internal repairs/upgrades to improve quality of life (i.e. – handicap bar’s/fixtures, larger house numbers, install home detectors, etc)

Throught the new Habitate for Humanity Program A Brush With Kindness (ABWK) volunteers from neighborhood groups, businesses, churches and community agencies provide exterior work for low income homeowners who are challenged by age, disability, or circumstance. ABWK brings resources, volunteers, and homeowners together to paint, landscape, perform minor repairs and general cleanup of the exterior of homes in a concentrated neighborhood effort.

The projects selected will be based on need and product availability. The process is as follows:

  1. The home that is in need of repairs must be owner-occupied.
  2. The family is vetted by the participating partner using their established guidelines.
  3. Habitat is contacted by the participating partner to see if resources are available.
  4. If the project is something we can provide the materials for, an independent committee established by Habitat for Humanity will review and approve (or decline) the proposal.
  5. The applicant must perform sweat equity to the extent that they are physically able to do so. Sweat equity can be completed either on the project or at the Store.
