A Brush with Kindness

Have you ever had A Brush With Kindness (ABWK)? ABWK is a neighborhood revitalization program where volunteers from neighborhood groups, businesses, churches and community agencies provide exterior work for low income homeowners who are challenged by age, disability, or circumstance. ABWK brings resources, volunteers, and homeowners together to paint, landscape, perform minor repairs and general cleanup of the exterior of homes in a concentrated neighborhood effort.
Qualifying homeowners receive the service for a fraction of the cost and work side by side with volunteers to complete the restoration of their home. Are you living in challenging circumstances which have created issues that are beyond what you can handle on your own? Are you struggling to keep your home in livable condition? Are you facing city code violations or homeowner insurance cancellation due to the condition of your home? Homeowner eligibility:
- complete application (link below);
- family income must be under 50% of area median income,
- home must be owner-occupied;
- scope of work must match program resources;
- all able-bodied homeowners and residents of the home re required to work alongside volunteers;
- homeowners are charged a portion of the costs, payable within 30 days of repair. Payments made by the homeowners are placed in a revolving fund to help ABWK serve others in need.
Applications are available for download. Please return completed application to the office located at 313 Wellsian Way | Richland WA | 99532
